Relevant Experience

Mohd Suhail Amar Suresh is an experienced technology leader, strategic advisor and Chartered Banker with over three decades of C-suite and board-level leadership experience spanning financial services, payments and digital transformation. He is recognized for his ability to bridge business strategy, corporate governance and technology ecosystems to drive sustainable growth, with efficient risk management achieving long-term organizational resilience.

Suhail served as Group Chief Technology Officer of Maybank, where he led the technology function as a core business enabler. Under his leadership, the bank modernized its digital capabilities, fortified its cybersecurity frameworks and matured its regional technology governance; achievements that earned the institution multiple international accolades, including Global Finance’s World's Best Consumer Digital Bank awards for Malaysia and Indonesia. He subsequently transitioned to serve as Senior Advisor to the President and Group CEO’s Office.

Prior to Maybank, Suhail played a pivotal role in shaping Malaysia’s national payments infrastructure. As Group Managing Director of the Malaysian Electronic Payment System (MEPS) and later as Managing Director of MyClear, a subsidiary of Bank Negara Malaysia (now PayNet), he led the development and expansion of the critical electronic payments infrastructure that underpins the nation’s financial system. Regionally, his work as a founding contributor to the Asian Payment Network helped accelerate cross-border payments interoperability and financial inclusion across ASEAN.

Suhail was named to the CIO 100 ASEAN list in both 2023 and 2024, ranking among the region’s top three CIOs by IDG and received The Asian Banker’s Technology Leadership Achievement Award.

Suhail previously held board positions with MCB Bank Limited and MRANTI Corporation Sdn. Bhd. His extensive background brings a combination of technical foresight, robust regulatory insight and regional experience to the Board.
