Kuala Lumpur: The Board of Directors of CIMB Group ("the Board") today announced the appointment of Tengku Dato’ Sri Zafrul Aziz, Group Chief Executive, CIMB Group to the additional role of Chief Executive Officer of CIMB Bank, effective 20 January 2016.
With this appointment, Tengku Dato’ Sri Zafrul Aziz will step down from his position as Chief Executive Officer of CIMB Investment Bank with effect from the same date. In the interim, the Board has elected Dato' Kong Sooi Lin, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of CIMB Investment Bank, as the Person-in-Charge.
"This appointment reflects the Board's confidence in Zafrul and underscores his accomplishments as Group CEO since his appointment as he leads the firm through a challenging period of change and transition. CIMB Bank is our largest operating entity and this move consolidates his position as the Group's primary executive officer,” said Dato’ Sri Nazir Razak, Chairman of CIMB Group.
