• Dato' Robert Cheim Dau Meng

    Chairman / Non-Independent Non-Executive Director

    Dato’ Robert Cheim was appointed as Chairman/Non-Independent Non-Executive Director of CIMB Investment Bank Berhad on 1 July 2015. He is also the Vice-Chairman of CIMB Thai Bank Public Company Limited and Trustee of Yu Cai Foundation.  He retired from CIMB Group and relinquished his executive positions in the various entities in the Group on 27 February 2015.

    Dato’ Robert Cheim joined Commerce International Merchant Bankers Berhad (now known as CIMB Investment Bank) in 1984 and held the position of Head of Corporate Finance, General Manager and Executive Director, before assuming the position of Chief Executive Officer from 1993 to 1999. From 1999 to 2006, he was an Executive Director of CIMB Investment Bank and from 2006 to 27 February 2015 he was Adviser for the Investment Banking Division of CIMB Group.

    Prior to joining CIMB Investment Bank, Dato’ Robert Cheim served in various management positions with the former United Asian Bank Berhad (now known as CIMB Bank) between 1977 and 1984. He has also worked in various accounting firms in London. He was Chairman of Tanjong PLC from 2005 to 2016 and also Chairman of CIMB Principal-Asset Management Berhad from 2015 to 2018.

    Dato’ Robert Cheim is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and a Member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants.

  • Jefferi Mahmud Hashim

    Chief Executive Officer / Executive Director

    Jeffer Mahmud Hashim was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of CIMB Investment Bank on 1 March 2019.    Jefferi, a Malaysian aged 45, was hired to lead the Investment Banking’s Senior Bankers Group and was appointed as Deputy CEO, CIMB Investment Bank on 18 September 2017.

    Jefferi has over 20 years of Investment Banking experience in Equity Capital Markets, Debt Restructuring, M&A and various other financial advisory services. Prior to joining CIMB, he was Head of Malaysia Coverage, Investment Banking and Capital Markets, Asia Pacific at Credit Suisse Securities Kuala Lumpur.  

     Jefferi graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Queen’s University, Canada.

  • Nadzirah Abd Rashid

    Independent Director

    Nadzirah, a Malaysian aged 51, has been appointed as an Independent Director of CIMB Investment Bank Berhad on 15 September 2014 and is a senior level finance executive with over 25 years of professional experience in securities market and banking industry.

    Nadzirah graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Accountancy from University of South Australia in 1986. She is also a Fellow of CPA Australia and a member of Malaysian Institute of Accountants.

     

  • Manu Bhaskaran

    Independent Director

    Mr. Bhaskaran, a Singaporean, was appointed as an Independent Director of CIMB Investment Bank Berhad on 1 June 2015. He began his career with the Singaporean government before leaving in 1989 to pursue a career in the private sector, serving as Chief Economist and Chief Strategist for Asia of Societe Generale Investment Bank for 12 years.

    He is a member of the Advisory Board for Asia of the International Monetary Fund and an adjunct senior research fellow at the Institute of Policy Studies, which is part of the National University of Singapore. Mr. Bhaskaran has a Bachelors’ Degree in Economics from Cambridge University, a Masters’ Degree in Public Administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and is a qualified Chartered Financial Analyst.

    Mr. Bhaskaran is the Founding Director and Chief Executive Officer of Centennial Asia Advisors, an independent research and advisory firm in Singapore that works with governments, multilateral institutions, financial firms and leading MNCs.  He is also an Advisor of CIMB ASEAN Research Institute.

  • Didi Syafruddin Yahya

    Independent Director

    Didi, aged 52, is currently independent non-executive director of CIMB Investment Bank. He previously worked for J.P. Morgan for more than 20 years based in Indonesia and subsequently Malaysia where he was Managing Director and Head of Investment Banking. At J.P. Morgan, he advised clients on mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt capital markets transactions and has been involved in a number of landmark deals in both Indonesia and Malaysia.

    He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (FCA) and Economics graduate from Cambridge University.
