Kuala Lumpur: CIMB Bank Berhad has put into immediate effect a six-month repayment relief on various loans and financing products, in an effort to alleviate the burden of customers and staff who have been affected by the floods in Penang and Kedah.

The six-month repayment relief would be applicable to:

  • All secured individual and enterprise/commercial banking loans and financing, including home financing, business premises financing, ASB financing and term financing (with overdraft facilities).
  • Auto loan/financing
  • Personal financing (Express Cash, Cash Plus-i and Cash Plus Loan)
  • Credit card interest/late charges

Charges would also be waived for credit/debit card replacement, statement request or replacement of mutilated passbook/bankers' cheques, and premature fixed deposit (FD) cancellation for FD's with one-month tenure. CIMB would also expedite the processing of insurance claims due to the floods in Penang and Kedah.

Tengku Dato' Sri Zafrul Aziz, Group Chief Executive, CIMB Group said, "Our hearts go out to customers and staff who have been affected by the floods. We hope the six-month repayment relief, and waiver of various service charges would help alleviate their burden as they rebuild their lives during these trying times. The CIMB branches in these affected states have remained open to enable customers to fulfil their banking needs. We are closely monitoring the situation, which we hope will return to normalcy soon."

CIMB has also put together efforts to provide assistance to the affected communities through CIMB Foundation and CIMB Islamic.

Customers are advised to call 03 - 6204 7788 (for auto loans, home and personal financing and credit cards); or 1 300 888 828 (for enterprise/commercial banking products); or visit the branch closest to them for further information on the eligibility for the repayment relief.
