Kuala Lumpur: CIMB Group today awarded scholarships to two outstanding participants in the CIMB Bumiputera Entrepreneur Skills Transformation (CIMB BEST) programme from 2015. I hope to make use of this opportunity as much as possible to help improve and upgrade my business until it becomes a legacy. After the course at UNIRAZAK, it is my hope that I will be able to use the knowledge acquired to expand my business . Eventually, I hope to have not just agents, but also branches across the country, including in Sabah, Sarawak and even Brunei.”
The other winner was Mohd Izzuan bin Hassan, who won the scholarship from the Emerging Entrepreneur Programme (Program Usahawan Berpotensi), for entrepreneurs with one to four years of experience. He owns DBY Auto Solutions, which provides delivery and installation of vehicle batteries through the Bateri2U service.
Mohd Izzuan remarked, “Having enrolled myself in the CIMB BEST programme, I now have greater understanding of the requirements in starting and running a business effectively. This includes image building and business branding, managing cash flow, marketing strategy, and facing challenges. I highly recommend the CIMB BEST Programme to Bumiputeras, whether they are already business owners or about to start a business. I am very thankful to CIMB for awarding this scholarship to me and will commit myself to learning as much as I can on all aspects of entrepreneurship. I hope the degree from UNIRAZAK will provide me with a stronger foundation in entrepreneurship to enable my business to grow and for me to even expand into other businesses.”
Hamidah Naziadin, Group Chief People Officer, CIMB Group said, “We are pleased to play a proactive role in responding to Khazanah Nasional’s call to government-linked companies to strengthen the development of the Bumiputera business community. This scholarship programme highlights one of CIMB’s efforts to incentivise Bumiputera to seriously consider entrepreneurship as a career. This also builds on CIMB BEST’s annual upskilling programme. We would like to extend our heartiest congratulations to Umarul Ariffin and Mohd Izzuan for being bold, innovative and excellent role models as successful Bumiputera entrepreneurs aspiring for bigger successes ahead.”
