| |
| 1) What is CIMB Community Link? |
| Community Link is one of CIMB Group's key Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives aimed at forging closer ties between CIMB Bank and CIMB Islamic branches and the local communities where the branches are located. The programme empowers the community to select / recommend initiatives or social causes that will enhance the lives of those within the community. These causes will be funded by the Bank.
|
| 2) How does CIMB Community Link works? |
| Each community has its unique needs and only the people in the local communities or those working closely with them will have the knowledge of the neighbourhood's requirements. Branch Managers will seek the appropriate organisations/community leaders to recommend worthy causes for funding. Once a cause has been identified and adopted by the Bank, a fund exclusively for this cause is then set up. Every time customers conduct a transaction at the branch, the Bank will contribute a pre-determined sum of monies to the fund. The more transactions and business activities there are at the branches, the more the Bank will contribute.
|
| 11) Who determines the fund size? |
| The organisations / community leaders who have recommended the cause to the Branch will determine the fund size. They are required to conduct a thorough survey on the requirements of the project along with the costs involved in order to complete the project.
|
| 12) How can the community monitor the progress of the fund-raising? |
| The process is very transparent to the community. When the fund size is set, the Branch will drive the fund raising. Branch managers will notify the community and its customers on the amount it will contribute for each transaction conducted at the branch. The community can see the progress of the fund level via a mock thermometer located at the electronic banking centre of the branch. Residents can come by anytime to check the thermometer.
|
| 13) What are the transactions customers can conduct in order for the Bank to contribute to the fund? |
| The Bank has pre-determined the sum it will contribute for the following activities:
1) Opening of Savings and Current Accounts
2) Credit card approvals
3) Purchase of Insurance & Investment products
4) Auto Financing approvals
5) Housing Loan approvals
6) Transactions conducted via electronic banking channels i.e. deposit cash & cheque, fund transfer and cash withdrawal
7) Registration with CIMB Clicks
*The Bank may add more activities to the list above.
|
| 14) How does CIMB Community Link support the community? |
|
The programme supports causes that enhance or enrich the lives of the communities in various aspects. Amongst others, these include:
1) Foster family and community development;
2) Environmental protection or natural resources conservation;
3) Sports and Healthcare
4) Effective participation of women in society
5) Knowledge and innovation
6) Promote culture and arts in society
7) Improve domestic tourism
8) Youth empowerment
Other areas apart from those listed above will also be supported if deemed suitable by the Bank.
|
| 15) Where can the community view projects adopted under CIMB Community Link? |
| There are information boards on 'Community Link' projects located at branches that display the various projects adopted and implemented by the respective branches.
|
| 16) What happens after a project is completed? |
| CIMB Community Link is an on-going programme. This means when funds for a project is raised and disbursed, the branch will work with the community to nominate the next worthy cause. Through Community Link, CIMB Bank and CIMB Islamic branches can now make a difference in the lives of the communities by not only enhancing it but also by forming a strong bond with the residents.
|
| 17) How do branch staff participate in CIMB Community Link? |
| Branch staff must fully understand the mechanics of Community Link. For a start, they should build a close rapport with customers who form part of the community where the branch is located. They can play an active role by helping the community identify projects for the branch to adopt. When the project is selected, the staff can remind customers to conduct more transactions in order for the Branch to help them raise the fund. They can also volunteer to carry out the projects.
|
| 18) How can the branch create awareness about Community Link in the neighbourhood? |
| In addition to buntings and posters at strategic locations in the branches, Group Corporate Communications is also creating awareness by placing full-page colour advertisements in major newspapers, TV advertisements on the initiative and organising events to mark the completion of certain projects. Community Link is here to stay.
|
| 19) How do organisations / individuals, who want to be a part of Community Link recommend a cause for funding? |
| They can approach the Branch Manager directly with a proposal and costs involved. The best part of Community Link is that Branch Managers will work with any member of the community to identify a worthy cause, even if that individual is not a Bank customer.
