CIMB-Principal Declares Income Distributions for 6 Funds

Kuala Lumpur: CIMB-Principal Asset Management Berhad (“CIMB-Principal”) has declared income distributions for 6 unit trust funds – comprising money market, fixed income and mixed assets funds – for the period ended 31 December 2009.

The unit trust funds are as follows:

J. Campbell Tupling, Chief Executive Officer of CIMB-Principal said, “We are pleased that the 6 funds have performed commendably with all funds outperforming their respective category benchmarks. Our fund managers have been effectively creating value for our investors, resulting in income distributions for these 6 funds. With investors’ renewed confidence and positive signs of market recovery, 2010 looks set to be a fruitful year for investors.”

As at 1 January 2010 (for 1-year performance), CIMB-Principal Money Market Income Fund is ranked 1st in the 1st Quartile of the Lipper league table in the money market category. This Fund, which mainly invests in short-term money market instruments declared a gross distribution of 0.56 sen per unit which amounts to a distribution yield of 0.55%.

The Company has also declared a gross distribution of 4.60 sen for CIMB-Principal Bond Fund which is also in the 1st Quartile (for 1-year performance). This represents a yield of 4.26%. On the other hand, CIMB-Principal Strategic Bond Fund and CIMB-Principal Institutional Bond Fund 2 paid gross distributions of 5.00 sen and 1.94 sen per unit respectively.

The CIMB Islamic Balanced Growth Fund declared a gross distribution of 2.12 sen and shown a higher distribution yield of 4.98%. This fund is also currently ranked in the 1st Quartile as at 1 January 2010 (1-year performance).

Meanwhile, CIMB-Principal Income Plus Balanced Fund will see its unit holders receiving a gross distribution of 0.68 sen per unit, or a distribution yield of 2.71%.  It generated a return of 147.90% as at 31 December 2009 since it was first launched in March 1998.
