Kuala Lumpur: CIMB Group Holding Berhad (CIMB Group) today announced two key senior appointments.
1. Appointment of Group Chief Risk Officer
Mr David Richard Thomas (Dave) has been appointed as Group Chief Risk Officer effective 26 July 2012 reporting to the Board of Directors/ Board Risk Committee. He assumes full responsibilities of the Head of Group Risk of CIMB Group.
Prior to joining CIMB Group, he served as Chief Risk Officer - Asia Pacific at the Royal Bank of Scotland from February 2007. He was with the Bank of America from 1984 until January 2007 in various roles and his last held position was Chief Credit Officer - Asia Pacific.
Dave brings with him a wealth of experience in his field. He possesses over 18 years of banking experience in areas such as commercial and investment banking, fixed income and equity, cash management and trade finance businesses across Asia Pacific region. He has in-depth risk experience across markets, products, sectors and risk disciplines and has extensive senior leadership and management expertise to handle difficult market conditions.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in History - American Studies from the Whitman College, USA.
2. Appointment of Deputy Chief Financial Officer
Encik Shahnaz Jammal, who is currently heading Group CEO’s Office, has been appointed as Deputy Group Chief Financial Officer effective 20 July 2012.
Shahnaz holds Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees in Economics from the University of Cambridge and also a MPhil in Economics from the University of Oxford. He joined CIMB Group in March 2009 and prior to this appointment had worked in various capacities in Group Risk Management, Corporate Client Solutions and PT CIMB Niaga, Indonesia.
Prior to joining CIMB Group, Shahnaz was with Goldman Sachs in London. He has also worked at Bankers Trust and Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein in London, as well as ABN AMRO Bank in Kuala Lumpur.
